Skip to content Choosing the right mouse mat size depends on how much desk space you want to cover and whether you use just a mouse or both a keyboard and mouse. This mouse mat size guide explains common mouse mat dimensions and where a 90 × 40cm extended mat fits.
Mouse mat dimensions vary between brands, so labels such as standard, large, XL and XXL are not always consistent. Smaller mouse pads are designed mainly for mouse movement, while larger and extended mats can provide space for both a keyboard and mouse.
A 90 × 40cm mouse mat is an extended size that gives you room for both your keyboard and mouse without covering the entire desk. It works well for anyone looking for a large mouse mat, XL mouse mat or XXL mouse pad, but always check the exact dimensions because size labels vary between brands.
Choose a smaller mouse pad if you only need space for mouse movement. A larger mouse mat is better if you want more freedom for gaming, while an extended desk mat gives you room for both your keyboard and mouse. If you want a balanced option that still leaves some desk visible, a 90 × 40cm mat is a practical choice.
There is no single standard mouse mat size because dimensions vary between brands. Smaller mouse pads are mainly designed for mouse movement, while larger and extended mats provide more room for gaming and desk setups.
Yes. A 90 × 40cm mouse mat provides enough space for both a keyboard and mouse while still leaving some of the desk visible. It is a practical extended size for gaming, work and everyday use.
XL and XXL are not fixed mouse mat dimensions, so the actual size can vary between brands. Always check the measurements rather than relying only on the size label.
